This forum is just for people to discuss which Call of Duty was their favourite and argue which was the best.

Most of you will disagree with me, but in my honest opinion, it was definitely Modern Warfare 2.

At the time it was released, it was just pure brilliance. The campaign was utterly amazing. The multiplayer revolutionized Call of Duty (Yes, in negative ways towards the release of Black Ops; but just remember the first few months of MW2). It introduced a new Killstreak setup, new Gamemodes and had probably to this day, the best maps in Call of Duty history (IMO).

I've started playing it again recently, and I have to say, after playing MW3 and Black Ops 2, playing MW2 is like a relaxation process. It's so laid-back and easy nowadays, and really easy to pick up again.

Seriously, I generally play S&D. I usually have an average game in Black Ops 2 where I go 4-2. In MW2, my average has been 8-3, and a high of 15-1!

I'm not saying all of this marks it a great game (it's still overflowing with noobs and bullsh*t), just explaining why I MYSELF like it. But in terms of how the game and atmosphere was at the time of release, and the game that was MOST FUN, MW2 takes the cake. No question about it.

Leave your opinion below :)

My opinion will always be Call of Duty 4. I like MW2 despite it's flaws, but I can't put up with the spawn points in MW2. Just no. The graphics, the actual feel of the maps and levels, and all of the gameplay additions to the game were all good - Don't get me wrong. The only gripes and flaws I have with it are the imbalances of the game - everything from spawn points, to player movements (it's a little slower than MW3 and BO2, especially BO2), to weapon balance, and all of this lag compensation that results in lagswitching, speed differences, and whatnot.

I agree with you on spawns, however I primarily play S&D so spawns aren't a problem for me. In response to lag compensation, I've not experienced any lag or lagswitching at all in MW2 in the past couple of days, and I generally get host 1/3 games. No lag compensation for me; at least, not noticeable anyway.

When did you buy the game? I bought it around the launch of the game, about 2 - 3 days after. Few months later, lots of lag problems erupted, then few months later hacking ensues, it was almost unplayable. A year into the lifespan, my phat PS3 give up and broke. Possibly because of the hacking. The last time I played it was against a lagswitcher who ultimately put an end to my PS3. Jerk. (Not you, of course.)

I bought it on release day. There was lag at its peak, but I was referring to nowadays. There's rarely any lag at all, and no lagswitchers either.

I wish my disc was out of the phat PS3. Lucky you. I loved the game, despite it's flaws. :(

Out of all of the games I played (from CoD: MW2 upwards) I would have to say I liked BO1 the most however I barely ever played any of them until BO2. The deal is, when I was on the other games I wasn't really a hard gamer so I never reached first prestige and had like 9 hours play time in a year.

MW3. Why? Because MW3 was my VERY FIRST Pre-order..and my first owned Call of Duty..I did play Cod3,Cod4,WaW,MW2 and BO1 but MW3 brings those memories of all my gaming buddies and the night of the midnight launch with a laser tag course in the parking lot (A HUGE parking lot)...soo MW3 for me.

I can't decide between Mw2 and Black Ops 1. I agree completely with Ghost17697 on why Mw2 is a good candidate that and it was the first Call of Duty I ever played online....but I think I barely reached 1st prestige before the next CoD game and I was busy with school so I didn't get to experience it as much as I wanted.
Black Ops 1, for me, had the best maps by far I didn't exit out of a pregame lobby or ever do bad in a match and blame it on the maps. Also the killstreaks and equipment were awesome. No other CoD game (except maybe WaW, never bought it or played it sadly except nazi zombies) could say oh we have napalm strikes where if you walk into it you burn, or decoy grenades that didn't really work but they were fun for trolling your extremely campy teammates. Or deployable cameras for watching your back/the bomb site instead of people throwing claymores/bouncing betties/i.e.d.s all the time, and those cameras made for epic killcams in Search & Destroy.

Mine is MW2.
I played ever since CoD2 so CoD4 is nothing special to me other than it was the first game of the next-gen of the time.
I think Ghosts will be the one everyone remembers and by which all future CoDs are compared in this Generation of Consoles (PS4/Xbox One).

My order would go like this..

1. MW2, hands down, this game was just amazing. Many new ideas were introduced. The titles and emblems was perfect, making them now is stupid and doesn't show much about what you have achieved. I enjoyed being able to work towards a difficult emblem and then have people compliment me on it once I had it achieved in MW2. Another thing that makes this game the best is both the maps and the guns. There was a lot of variety.. It had its share of small maps, medium maps, and large maps. Nearly every map worked for snipers as well as rushers. If you chose to, you could go in what I called the "spawn snipe zone" for most maps. There was a spot where the players from both sides could try to spawn snipe each other at the start of the map, however, this spot was completely avoidable for the players who chose not to snipe. As far as the gun, there was a great variety! The intervention in my opinion is the best gun in call of duty history and made snipers have a realistic chance to do very well unlike now where they are overwhelmed by the new tactics (jump in Advanced Warfare) to avoid them. For sub machine guns the UMP was clearly amazing and for assault rifles you had the AK-47 which was boss in this game. You also had the SPAS-12 as a shotgun for secondary. Another great thing about this game was Special Ops. This was a very cool addition. I am a huge fan of zombies but Special Ops brought a new and exciting twist to the game.

2.World at War, I may be biased towards this game because it was my first game I had played online but I still think it is an amazing game after playing all of the 7 other call of duties since. This game was perfectly simple. This was before all of the new additions and just had a simply fun feel to it. The maps had a lot of though put into them and favored snipers for the most part which I really enjoyed since I believe snipers are now heavily overwhelmed. The large maps had tanks but they weren't overwhelmingly overpowered as long as you used explosives and kept your distance. Zombies on this game was fun as well. Overall I think this game was good because of it's consistency, some of the newer games feel more like halo and battlefield at times which is a major turn off for me.

3.Black Ops I, right before this game was when I switched to xbox from playstation and it made my call of duty experience much more enjoyable. This game had the competitive feel to it and brought an awesome addition with game clips. The maps were awesome and I believe Nuketown is undisputedly the best map in Call of Duty history.. Zombies on this game was the best of any other game and the guns were awesome as well. This game was spot on with kill streaks as well. My only negative thought about this game was that they ruined emblems. Emblem making is stupid IMO and it should go back to the MW2 style.

4.Modern Warfare, a lot of people love this game but I just never played it enough. It seemed similar to MW2 but just lacked the emblems. If I had played this more it could very possibly be top 3.

5.Advanced Warfare, I have only played this game for a few weeks now so my opinion could easily change. I think it brought some new additions with customizing killstreaks, different forms of guns, and the game mode one shot. Negative things are the jump, the maps suck, and the kill streaks suck.

6.MW3, I think the thing that made me dislike this game is the fact that it could not live up to how good MW2 was. I think that a lot of people, including myself, were hoping for something very similar to MW2 and were very let down. The maps seemed lame, guns seemed decent, killstreaks seemed decent, but it just wasn't fun to me.

7.Black Ops II, this game was another let down after how good Black ops I was. I guess it is at an unfair advantage because it had a lot to live up to. I don't even remember enough about this game to talk much about but I know I played this game least out of any call of duty because it was just boring.

8.Ghosts, hands down. After taking an 8 month break after Black Ops II and deciding to try again due to the new system, this game SUCKED! I was expecting amazing, due to the fact it was going to be the first game on the new systems but it was the opposite. Crappy maps, guns, kill streaks, EVERYTHING! I played this game for only a month before selling my new system because of the disappointment.

If I am speaking in terms of what game was absolutely an enjoyable experience..then MW2. All of my clan mates unanimously loved this installment, and we would play for HOURS. Also, I know this is a touchy subject because it was part of the demise of the servers...but the user mods that people came up with were hilarious...placing infinite claymores in Terminal...or camping in a care package fort...hilarious.
