Snipers

I'm most likely doing this out of rage, but for the last 3 games I have been put into a game with snipers. All the snipers do is kill me before I even have time to aim my gun because they quick scope and hit me first time 9/10 times where is the fairness? If snipers want to snipe just give them their own lobby so they can 360 each other all day long...

This is not exclusive to Xbox 360, nor "snipers." It's happening on PS3, and from all kinds of players.

I was playing a match over the weekend, and I swear to god, I am truely amazed at some people. I knew someone was cheating, and so I reported them not once, but twice. At the same time, I call him out on cheating via PSN message. He starts talking shit to me, and about me. So, once I insult him back, he leaves. Then, the person came back with friends of his... Guess what he and his "team" did? Spawn trapped the entire team so that they can't walk 5 inches, or 5 meters of their spawn. Over, and over, and over and over again.

The worst part is, the person who I called out as a cheater? Post-match, he was bragging with is clan buddy that they're better than us. You can't say you're fucking good when you're spawn trapping! Fuck that shit!

I hope for serious improvements in Ghosts with reduced power in pistols, harder to use a sniper, reduced emp grenade effects and better spawns!

I thought using a sniper was hard enough in BO2? All that sway, and shot bounce after each shot? Yeah, I don't know how that was easy. The only sniper that's pretty "easy to use" is the SVU-AS.

Well every time I play against snipers I am just quick scoped with ease which just amazes how so many people can be so good at using them

Treyarch designed those snipers to be "hard to use" but experienced quickscopers from other games just practiced how to bypass the "hard to use" style of BO2.

Look, I don't mean to be funny, but I'm getting a little tired of everyone talking negatively about sniper rifles... If I had to choose a class, they definitely wouldn't be my 'weapon of choice', but they're still solid weapons. They DO take a bit of skill to use effectively, and aren't ONLY used by trickshotters and quickscopers.

1. Sniping can be used tactically to cover teammates whilst they play the objective, or pick off opposing forces in non-objective based gamemodes, contributing to the win.

2. What's the big negative about quickscoping or no-scoping? It's just used as a quick last resort when enemies get too close (it's faster than reloading). It can also be used as a primary method of firing, as to some it's easier than 'hard scoping'. Also, if you came "up-close-and personal" with an enemy using any other weapon class, you would panic and try to kill the enemy using the quickest means possible. In MW2, this would've been 'Commando-Knifing', which was as equally annoying to most as sniping, dropshotting etc. are currently.

People are just going to try and pick faults with every CoD; it can't be helped, but neither can sniping - it's in the game for a reason, and is very effective when used correctly. To add, sniping will (about 90% of the time) always contain an element of camping, but this is expected as the player will make use of the sniper rifles' long range advantage, and spending less time in 'Close Quarters'.

In my opinion, trickshotting is probably the only factor of sniping that is deemed a negative. However, it shouldn't be complained about too much, as if the enemies are trickshotters, they are placed at a huge disadvantage. On the other hand, I understand that if you are unfortunate enough to have trickshotters on YOUR team, they will almost definitely damage the teams' chances of winning, making it very frustrating.

This is why sniping is looked down upon. It is made to look inferior in effectiveness by players who do not use sniping properly, and is being rapidly ruined- as is the reputation of Call of Duty as a whole.

(Trickshotting definitely isn't the sole reason for the downfall of CoD).

To conclude, I'd just like to reiterate that I do not snipe regularly (I'm more of an SMG kind of guy), but I do enjoy sniping from time-to-time. But I generally have quite an aggressive "play to win" play-style, and sniper rifles don't support this as well as SMGs or assault rifles. I hope I've changed your take on sniping slightly, and just remember: "Hate the player, not the game".

In reply to point 1. What game have you been playing? I have NEVER seen people use a sniper tactically on call of duty, actually I've never seen anyone play tactically at all on cod period

Well then you obviously haven't played a game of CoD with me. And there is people out there who do it, it's just rare.

You just need play with a team. If you play with random and don't have a game plan, tactical sniping doesn't work; as your "teammates" don't use teamwork.

I have seen a clan play tactically since COD4. It's just that too many idiots play Call of Duty, so you won't come across "tactically" inclined players.

Which is exactly why I have started playing Battlefield again.
I still primarily play CoD, but I have taken a real liking to Battlefield and I'm getting better at it too. A few months ago I would probably went 4-30 on TDM, but now I'm clocking in games of 25-9 in TDM, and 37-28 in Rush and Conquest :)

I absolutely hate snipers in all of the Call of Duty games. They should be banned from multiplayer. All they do is annoy the hell out of players.

Well I disagree completely. I do however think they should integrate some new playlists...

Assault Rifles only playlist
SMGs only playlist
LMGs only playlist
Shotguns only playlist
Snipers only playlist
Assault Shield only playlist

Therefore, less people will bitch, and it will be more fun for the people who like to have Sniper Battles.

Honestly I find this whole post pretty funny, making assault weapon playlists only, spawn trapping and so fourth. Its simple people play as a unit, dont allow your self to be spawned trapped, Use the maps to your advantage maybe try playing Hard Core less snipers and less trick shotting. Hey heres a thought learn to quick scope it can be quite fun espically with being able to hear you opponent cry about being QS. I also agree with the one poster play BF CoD is more of an arcade style game BF is more for tactics. I personally play HC to stay away from QS and snipers I love the cod series but also own BF both have there ups and downs if you havent figured it out yet QS is here to stay!!

I don't see anything wrong with having class-specific playlists. Normal playlists would still be there; like Core, Hardcore, Party Games and DLC.

Speaking of which, they have a DLC map-specific playlist, so what would be wrong with class-specific playlists?

Plus, you said you love to quickscope because it makes others angry... That is the problem we've been discussing since the start of this thread. I personally, am not phased at all when it comes to being killed by a Sniper. But others are. That doesn't mean to say that Sniper Rifles should be removed from the game (I'd be annoyed if they were removed) just because people complain about being quickscoped. But there should be a comprimise for the people who dislike it.

So you have your already implemented playlists, that people can use any weapon they want. So Snipers may get annoyed by being outgunned by an Assault Rifle, or vice versa. But then you add in class-specific playlists too, which eliminate this problem. People who hate Snipers can go into an Assault Rifle only game. People who like Sniping can join a Sniper Rifle only game. It would solve the problem.

Another idea is that the could integrate a filter like they do in Battlefield 3. On BF3's filter, you can filter out maps, gamemodes, number of players e.t.c. So put this in to Call of Duty, and allow people to filter the weapons that their enemies and themselves will be able to use, just like in Custom Games.

I hope you understand now, thank you for your time.

Never said I love quick scoping I said its fun!! See the problem with having class specific playlist is it would all be the same. Case in point running a sub machine gun I can get to choke points faster then someone who is carrying a assault weapon. You can rush with an assault rifle but its not the same as playing with a SMG. Making a filter for certain attachments and perks is a great idea hell even kill streaks would be great. You can create classes to counter your opponents class dont just keep playing with the same class switch it up. QS and NS isnt an exact science its part skill part luck.

This thread was started because someone is getting mad because there getting QS maybe its time to put the game down. Take it for what it is a game, im not saying your bad but maybe you need to work on your gun skill instead of getting mad. It is FUNNY though when people rage over being QS or NS!!! I do play a little competitive and have never seen anyone QS or NS in a match so maybe you should play in a competitive match where you can chose what perks and items are to be banned. That is my only input I can give

PUBS = HAVE FUN DONT TAKE IT SO SERIOUS

I agree that you can run faster with an SMG (they're generally what I use). Maybe class-specific playlists is a bad idea, but having a filter so the people who dislike Snipers can filter them out of their games is a good idea.

Also, I think you're confused. I never said I was mad. I like Snipers, I rarely rage at CoD (unless the enemies are cheating in some way; lagswitches etc) and I wouldn't consider myself a bad player. I have a lot of bad games, but that's cos I'm trying to unlock camouflages for Snipers and Shotguns. That said, I've also had BRILLIANT games with those weapons. It all depends on who you play against.

I quickscope from time to time, and I'm not great at it but I wouldn't consider myself bad at it either. It's just a way to change up your playstyle and make the game more fun. Which brings me to your last point. I rarely take CoD seriously, unless I'm in a game with a great team and we're playing the objective like crazy :) But besides that, I don't really care, I play to have fun.

I don't care about my K/D at all either, and it annoys me when some people will play like a bitch so that their K/D will stay high. Mine is around 1.3, which is because I've been trying to get Diamond Snipers and Diamond Shotguns (Diamond Specials hurt my K/D a lot too, but that paid off :P). But my K/D was like 1.6 or something, and higher in MW3.
But as I've said, I dont care about my K/D, I just play to win and in turn, have fun.
