Has anyone else pre-loaded the game yet? Myself and @Thom have pre-loaded it and it was over 48GB! - We downloaded 96GB between us!

That is a seriously large download, so I'm expecting the game to look amazing. Fortunately, we've got pretty quick internet so it only took around an hour or so.

Have you guys pre-loaded it yet?

Honestly, at this point, this doesn't surprise me at all. The size of games has increased over the last few years. This is probably due to more advanced graphics and a more advanced engine. I haven't pre-loaded it yet, but I really need to get to it.

I am really hyped for this and I hope that this game will turn out to be great. :)

Games are starting to have bigger installs, like GTA 5 is at almost 12GBs. The 48GBs will be a hassle to install for someone with crappy internet, I will say that.

Hopefully AW will turn out great though.

That's probably all uncompressed audio and textures, like CoD Ghosts did to inflate it's size and requirements for the PC when the game turned out bad looking.

That really sucks. 48GB will be a huge hassle to download and will take forever. I can't remember the last time I downloaded half of that.

I think it's really cool that they allow you to pre-install it. There's nothing that takes the fun out of it more than getting a new game and having to wait hours to play it. But geeeez, close to 50!?

Well that is huge! I am glad I have broadband here and don't have to worry about that then. I imagine those poor people with clunky internet will have to wait and skip going down that route all together. It would suck having to wait a week to play due to your clunky internet connection. I would be lost without my high speed connection. I don't have any lag at all on most games and find it pretty easy to download all the inevitable patches and updates that always come with a decent game of any size.

Considering the engine is highly modified then I'm not surprised. However, considering that size I am expecting the textures and overall graphics to be good in this game unlike the ones in ghosts. I'm considering buying an XBOX and its going to suck having to deal with that download. At least I have a good connection.

That is a very large about for a pre-loaded game. I am going to need a new PC if I want to get it for my laptop.

Not entirely surprising since games like Shadow of Mordor are 49GB downloads. Not sure what I'm going to do since AT&T has a 150GB monthly cap and my internet is only 6Mb down. Guess I'll be paying my brother a visit with his 60Mb down internet.

Games have been that large for roughly past year. Ghost was 28 gigs just for MP on PC. They don't compress a lot of the audio anymore to try to say the large space is do to their "new engine" with "new graphics". Which is not a new engine, they are still using the Quake Engine. The more they expand the size of games, the more it is just showing how terrible digital downloading is.

I guess developers don't care that much for the size of their games anymore since storage has become relatively cheap. Too bad SSD's are still quite expensive though, this game won't fit on mine for now and I'll have to put it on my HDD, which is old and slow. I wouldn't mind if it's all to keep the quality of the game as high as possible but I don't think that's it.

That's crazy. I'm not surprised, but I hope the graphics are as good as the size makes it seem. If it's going to be like Titanfall and be mostly audio, I'll be completely disappointed. I'll probably have to buy a new HDD soon, though.

I would be willing to bet that the majority of it is, in fact audio. With all the voice acting and (surely) sound design for combat that they've done, I bet they're giving you uncompressed audio files.

Probably, it's been the case with many releases lately and I often wonder what the point is of having uncompressed audio. To me it doesn't sound anything better than compressed audio, is that just me or is there really no noticeable difference?
