NEED HELP - Moving from PC to Xbox

I purchased MWII through Battlenet and I have a Battletag. The PC crashed recently and decided to move to the Xbox. I already have an Activision account/Xbox Live account. I went ahead and linked my Battletag to my Xbox account. Anytime I play COD on the Xbox it uses the Activision ID not the Battletag. I've been told unlinking the Xbox account and linking the Battlenet is the way to go, but I didn't want to pull the trigger on that since there's a 365 day cool down period if I mess it up worse.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am GUESSING (emphasis on GUESS) that Battlenet is only PC based.. ALL of the services use your Activision ID.. Battlenet (PC), XBOX LIVE (XBOX) and PSN (Playstation)... I don't think you can link a Battlenet ID in XBOX LIVE or PSN...

It's likely that it's confusing the system when your Activision game play pulls from 2 different sources (XBOX LIVE and BATTLENET) but, if I understand the breakdown correctly, they SHOULD play nice together.. I have both an XBOX LIVE and BATTLENET account but I haven't used the XL account in a long while...

If XBOX LIVE has some kind of "VACATION" setting where you can turn off the account without actually deleting it, that would be the thing I would try...

To expand on this: LINK your accounts at CallofDuty.com not anywhere else if you play Call of Duty to effect these changes.
