Didn't see anyone mention this interview with the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games (the actual developers of CoD:AW.) He talks about a lot of stuff not mentioned elsewhere.
Here are some highlights and the link.

About the storyline:

...When talking about the conflict of tomorrow, we started by going to the Pentagon and getting some great military advisor support. We asked them what they really believed was going to happen, what the military is preparing for. They don't talk about the most likely outcome being the rise of China as a superpower, or the resurgence of Cold War Russia. They talk about what happens when a private military corporation has access to the latest technology, the latest training, and are able to be bought by the highest bidder? They're independent of values or a nationality. It's a very provocative sort of subject matter and we did want to explore that...
About the development:

...Having three years to make the game allowed us to take some risks and try out things that were maybe more ambitious than [other developers] had time for in the past. So we're very excited to see how fans react to the narrative in the story mode, I think we brought something special with Kevin Spacey's involvement. And of course we're taking some bold chances with the exoskeleton and changes to player mechanics.

On Quick Scoping:

...Let me put it this way, sniper classes are not going to be overpowered relative to their peers. The ability to master a sniper rifle and be great at it will be equal to the ability to master any other class. We've done some things to make sure snipers are not able to take advantage of their properties - for example, there are attachments based on weapon classes that are specific. The ability to quick-draw with an assault rifle is important, but you don't want to have the ability to quick-draw with a sniper rifle because that lends itself to being a faster, quick-scope model.
I know a lot of people don't care about this stuff but I thought it was cool learning why they did what they did and what are the things the developers are excited about. You can read the entire thing here.

I'm very happy they are working to reduce quickscoping, it becomes a pain having to deal with team mates running around with snipers using them as assault rifles. I just hope some of the maps are large enough and designed well enough so proper sniping isn't extremely difficult to do effectively.

Thank you for sharing this with us! It's really interesting seeing some answers related to the period they took in order to make this game. I'm pretty sure that they did a very good job. As the co-fonder said, they took some risks, and I'm pretty sure that it shall turn out into something complete new on Call of Duty and who knows maybe on gaming industry.

Total Agreeance! Quickscoping irritates the F out of me!

I *can* quickscope, but I don't. I've never found someone that was so great at quickscoping that I couldn't beat them with other weapons and a couple of tactics. I know other people find it annoying, but it's whatever. It's probably for the best that it's being reduced in Advanced Warfare.
