Bugged update/HILLCAT error?

I am having the same exact issue years later (as of the most recent update on 6/11/24). PC/BattleNet version. BattleNet updated the game, I launched it, and instead of the usual “update requires restart” message I got stuck on “checking for update” until minutes later the HILLCAT error emerged.

So far, I’ve tried the following with no success: -Power cycling my router and cable modem -Connecting my PC directly to the modem (bypassing the router) -Clearing cache -Verifying game files -Reinstalling the game (three times) -Reinstalling BattleNet -Installing the game through Steam (same issue there) -Clearing DNS/releasing/renewing IP -Enabling/Disabling Upnp (as suggested by Activision support) -Manually setting DNS to Google or Cloudfare -Using a VPN in various regions (US, Europe, Asia) -Connecting to my phone’s hotspot -Clean reinstalling/updating network and graphics drivers.

None of the above or combinations of the above have worked. The only thing I have not tried is reinstalling Windows, but I do not see a point as it won’t be effective. Anyone have any thoughts or solutions?

Update: I installed everything on my fiancée’s computer and the game connected instantly. Made me think it was in fact a network issue on my end and something was blocking the connection (even though I tried using my phone as a hotspot and used a VPN too). I decided to “borrow” the SSD I had installed the game on in her PC, came home, hooked it up to mine and what do you know…after some seconds it got past the “waiting for update” screen. But, I got excited too early.. it went through the next few things like blueprints and player stats, but got stuck on “updating playlists” and threw a new error: DOHOK RESORT. A quick search of Reddit and YouTube and I found lots of people had struggled with this in the past and the suggested solutions all had to do with network just like the error I first had. I called my internet service provider and they were clueless about any issues/changes on their end that would cause this. As a last resort, I did a completely fresh Windows install and bingo! The issue was fixed. I was able to connect and update using my same network I’ve always used. This leads me to believe that there was a corrupt windows update that did not get installed properly. There was a windows update two days before I ran into the error and that was the only software change that was made on the PC that week. So, long story short, if anyone runs into the HILLCAT or DUHOK RESORT error codes on PC, the quickest and easiest way to fix it may be to just do a fresh OS install. As inconvenient and painful as that may be, it is effective.
