Will the Playstation Catch Up With AW?

Of course, Call of Duty has never been as popular on Playstation consoles as it has been on Xbox consoles. Microsoft was often seen as having the better multiplayer system in place and the more competitive players. Do you think things will start to turn around beginning with Advanced Warfare?

no and the reason being is simple, Sony can tout their benchmark hardware advantage but at the end of the day, PSN is STILL not up to par with XBL. Constant security issues, exorbitant amount of downtime, etc. This was tolerable when they didn't charge for the service, then they added PS+ and told PS users that the upgrade would give them a better gaming experience, but the fact of the matter is, they still do not have an acceptable online platform.

Xbox has been touting the power of the cloud computing with Xb1 and it's Azure servers. The Azure servers ran Titanfall and IMO handled it fabulously. If AW is able to take advantage of this and provide stable, latency-minimal servers for online play, it will continue to dominate as the primary CoD console

I can't argue against anything you've mentioned. PSN is kinda like Sprint (the wireless company) in that I was never unable to log into my AT&T or Verizon accounts to pay a bill, and yet Sprint's website seems to be down or buggy on a regular basis. :P I would have to agree on Titanfall running smoothly on the Azure servers.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they will level it up. As having one of the biggest gaming console out there, Sony needs to keep stepping up in order to not be let behind by Microsoft. They are basically investing money in their rivalry with Microsoft by stepping the level up when it comes about multiplayer system.

Yes, but at some point I'm pretty sure they will either come up with something to replace this lack or will simply level it up. Rivalry like this, which makes millions, can't go on if one of them is left behind at a chapter, so they simply need to compensate somehow and I'm pretty sure it's in their best interest to do so.

You say "level it up" like it's as simple as playing a video game, but that's not the case. Microsoft has the infrastructure in place for its servers and multiplayer. Sony lacks such a large infrastructure comparatively and needs to do major upgrades to said infrastructure. That's a lot more complicated and costly than leveling it up.

IMO Xbox has better internet, but PSN isn't that over-filled with 12 year olds screaming various insults. If PSN's internet could stay up longer than 5 seconds I think it could be great.

Well, it's not Sony's Internet that causes PSN's problems. It's the fault of the servers that PSN uses to run everything. If there are any Internet connection issues, then it's on the side of the gamer.

I hope Playstation does get itself together because I have yet to, and probably never will buy an Xbox One. Nothing personal against the owners of these systems. I've just always been a Sony guy through thick and thin. It'll be nice to have the same experience as the Xbox players when it comes to competition and what not. I have definitely played COD on the Box and I agree that the PS version is lacking in some areas.

PSN isn't up to par with Xbox Lives service. I ended up making a video about this and I think I covered it good. I mostly cussing the whole time about how PSN shouldn't be the way that it is. I will always think that COD is best on Xbox and PC until PSN is as strong as it should be.

Of course they will did you not get the news that Playstion 4 has been the #1 best seller month over month. PS4 has sold over 14 Million systems while the xbox is back begind with less then half almost 7 million sold. So just on numbers alone i dont see how COD will sell more on xbox then the PS4. Unless each xbox user buys more than 1 copy of the game.

The people at Sony pay close attention to the market place. I'm going to give them credit for being able to address their own deficiencies. So, now with the release of Advanced Warfare. This is chance a for them to get it right. I'll bet they will.

Don't let the cable companies that provide most of the internet service off the hook that easily. They know that their customers play these games. The blame should go to the internet service providers for not keeping up with the times, and the demands of the market.

Even if Playstation won't "embrace" AW, chances are it will still see a higher player count than Steam does. Seriously, it makes me sad whenever I compare the count I see on steam with the one I see on consoles. Then again, I don't play CoD that often either, so I shouldn't be the one to criticize.

Ehh, Sony look like they prefer to market great Singleplayer experiences while Microsoft go for the Call of Dutys and Fifas. I honestly prefer the way Sony is going, the only reason I play on a PS3 is for Metal Gear and Silent Hill. If I want to play on a good MP network I'd be playing on PC.

The real question is when will the XBox catch up with the PC.

I agree with the PS4 focusing more on single player experiences. The servers are still broken almost and that's still doing a good job at pissing me off.

It depends on what you mean by catching up - in terms of players PS is probably the winner, because more people have bought the PS4. In terms of people who buy COD for the competition XBOX has it because the PSN is pretty bad. However, in terms of people who buy for both competition and single player then PS is back in the game because they deliver wonderfully in regards to single player games ( example: The Last of Us). So yeah... I don't think PS has too much to worry about in regards to catching up outside of the multiplayer stuff.

This is a very tired argument. If you're saying "catch up" in terms of competitive players, you have no real way of evaluating the number of competitive players on either system.

In terms of popularity, that popularity only goes as far as the North American shores. When you count the world as a whole, once all is said and done, the PS version usually equals and has even outsold the Xbox versions, not by much. But it happens.

It's as if people say things like "catch up" based off marketed opinion rather than fact
