If you're like me - you have been around a long time. Maybe seen it all.
Personally - I have had a very diverse gaming lifespan. Started out in 2002 with online gaming in Halo and SOCOM. Worked my way through the early days of competitive gaming on Gamebattles and Major League Gaming from 2003 to 2009. From Call of Duty to Rainbow Six to Halo and Gears of War. Then went to PC gaming and did a five-six year stint in World of Warcraft and Milsim Gaming with ArmA. Now back to content creation and competitive sweats on Rebirth Island since the boom during COVID. Just a very wide variety.
One thing I have noticed is what was once "Clans" became "Teams" and are now Communities or Organizations. All very vast and very different but I am wondering what changed?
Back in the day - Clans were a huge deal. Who you were and who you repped was a big deal and it followed you. That three letter tag and who you suited up for on Friday night was a big deal. Now days people jump ship from one place to another in a matter of days always looking for the next dopamine high. Always looking for the next best thing and how quick they can "go viral" or gain more hits or follows. It's wild time to be alive.
I get it. I am a homer of sort maybe a modern day millennial son of a boomer, but I am curious... What do you look for in a new group? What encourages you to join a team or clan?
It seems like now days there is no loyalty or commitment. Everyone is afraid to engage and be a part of something. So, what is it? What do you look for?
For me - its all about the brotherhood. Meeting new people and building bonds with people going through life at the same time dealing with the same shit and we use the game to break bread and find a common ground for a distraction from reality.
Are you looking for a clan? a team? a organization? What is the true difference?
