    ok, so the dsl was not the problem. it was the game itself. I guess there is a such thing as a bad disk. Switched it at gamestop and now everything is perfect. Thank you for all the information.

    ok so my dsl signal is running at 2.9 mbps and the ps3 confirms that. But when I go online on black ops to the options menu and press select it says my bandwidth is between 420 and 424 kbps. the online will not connect unless i go to killstreaks and wait like 2 or 3 minutes for it to load then...
